Simon Critchley: Tragedy’s philosophy

Simon Critchley (b.1960) is an English philosopher. He works currently as a
professor at The New School in New York. Professor Critchley received his Ph.D.
from the University of Essex in 1988. His published work deals largely with
interpretations of modern continental philosophy, drawing on thinkers such as
Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Martin Heidegger and Emmanuel Levinas. In his work,
Critchley has taken an interest in a variety of topics ranging from the history
of philosophy and political theories to philosophy of justice, from literature
and theatre to questions of ethics, religion, humour, psychoanalysis and the
contemporary social reality.
