NYKY Ensemble, the contemporary music group of the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts, will perform the video opera An Index of Metals by Fausto Romitelli and Paolo Pachini on Friday the 28th November at Helsinki Music Centre. The performance combines vocals, a chamber music group, multimedia projection and electronics. The last piece by the Italian cult composer is produced by NYKY in collaboration with AAVE.
According to Fausto Romitelli, “The piece aims to transform traditional opera into an all-encompassing sensory experience that pushes the viewer into a molten substance that is both enlightened and musical—a lava stream of sound, shape and colour where the narrative is replaced by sensations of hypnosis, merging and trance.”
