We are delighted to share with you news on two costume-related events taking place on one day, Friday 3 June 2016:

National-level research seminar on Costume Design and related fields

Friday, June 3rd 2016 at 9.00 – 17.30
Room 5022, 5th floor, Arabia Campus, Hämeentie 135 C (main building), 00560 Helsinki

Costume and Research in Finland is a national-level research seminar which brings together a multidisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners based in Finland, and offers peer-support to doctoral candidates, early career researchers and academics conducting research in the field of costume or in related artistic fields involving dress and performance.

The programme will include presentations of recent costume research work from Aalto University and the University of Helsinki, and a guest presentation from the University of Huddersfield, UK. Guest respondent, Senior Researcher Donatella Barbieri (London College of Fashion), together with FiDiPro Professor Peter McNeil, Prof. Sofia Pantouvaki and Prof. Paula Hohti (Aalto ARTS) will support discussions and provide feedback.

Coffee and lunch will be offered to all participants attending the full day. There is no fee for attendance.

Costume and Research in Finland is organized for the second time by Costume in Focus research group, following a previous event in November 2014. The seminar is part of the Costume Methodologies FiDiPro research project.

We are excited to announce the first issue of the international peer-reviewed journal Studies in Costume and Performance (Intellect): http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/journals/view-Journal,id=235/
The journal aims to encourage, generate and disseminate critical discourse on costume and the relationship between costume and performance.

The first issue of Studies in Costume and Performance draws materials from Critical Costume 2015, a significant international costume-based event that took place at Aalto University, Helsinki, in March 2015. This special issue, edited by Prof. Sofia Pantouvaki, are part of the Costume Methodologies FiDiPro research project.
