Kolmijäseninen yhden bändin rumpali esittää elektronisen komposition C-mollissa.
Three-membered one band drummer presents an electronic composition in C-minor.
SARANA
Saranan 15-vuotinen äänimatka kietoutuu intuitioon, uteliaisuuteen ja hetken
tutkimiseen ja toteuttamiseen sekä myötäelämiseen. Harakassa ympäristöäänistä
poimitaan taajuuksia, jotka toistetaan syntetisaattoreilla ambient
äänimaisemana. Teoksessa esittäjän rooli on muotoilla ääntä, kun säveltäjänä
toimii paikka juuri sillä hetkellä, sellaisena kuin se on: arvaamaton,
yllättävä ja elävä. Teos on osa spektraalimusiikin (Spectral music) jatkumoa.
Spektraalimusiikissa esimerkiksi lintujen laulua on pyritty toisintamaan
klassisilla instrumenteilla. Ympäristöäänille tehdään FFT-muunnos, joka poimii
ympäristöstä taajuuksia, ja nämä taajuudet muunnetaan MIDI-informaatioksi, joka
ohjaa syntetisaattoreita. Ympäristöäänet itsessään muunnetaan lähes jatkuvaksi
kohinaksi, joka luo teoksen harmonisen pohjan, kun taas välillä kuulemme
pelkästään musiikiksi tehtyä saarta. http://www.sarana.biz/
SARANA has travelled 15 years in sound wrapping itself in intuition, curiousity,
and exploring and producing the moment with co-existential sympathy. In Harakka
the frequences will be picked up from the sounds of the environment, which will
be played by synthetisators as ambient landscape. The performer forms the sound,
but the composer is the place, as it is: unpredictable, surprising and living.
The work belongs to the continuing history of spectral music where for example
the birdsongs has been reconstructed with classical instruments. The
environmental sounds will be transformed by FFT, picking up the frequencies
which will be transformed into MIDI-information, directing the synthetisators.
The environmental sounds will be formed into almost continuous noise, creating
the harmonius ground for the work, when in between we hear only the island

HEIDI FASTin (s. 1975) työ liikkuu vokaalisen äänitaiteen kentän lisäksi
filosofian, terapeuttisen ajattelun ja toiminnan sekä uusien organisatoristen
kysymysten rajapinnoilla. Hänen pääosin julkiseen tilaan toteutetut työnsä (mm.
It´s Voicy 2007, Amorous Dialogues 2006, Iltalauluaktio 2006 ja Iltalaulukävely
2010) ovat kokeiluja äänen sekä intiimistä että etäisyyksiä asettavasta
vaikutuksesta ja uudenlaisten yhteisöjen synnyttämisestä.
IHME 2010 -päivillä toteutetussa Iltalaulukävelyssä Fast kutsui ihmisiä
iltalaulukävelylle kanssaan auringonlaskun aikaan, läpi hämärän hetken,
Helsingin Kauppatorilta Vanhalle ylioppilastalolle pitkin ydinkeskustan
syrjäkatuja. ”Laulan kulkiessani hiljaisia pieniä ääniä illaksi muuttuvan
kaupungin äänten kanssa, kuulemastani ja kanssakulkijoistani vaikuttuen. Kun
hämärtyy, on helpompi avautua kuulemaan, herkistyä myös sille, joka ei ole
meille tyrkyllä. Jos haluat, voit ottaa osaa lauluun omalla äänelläsi,
rosoisella tai kirkkaalla, kuuluvalla tai ihan hiljaisella, sellaisella joka on
sinulle luonteva. Se ei ole yhtä kaikki välttämätöntä. Tarkoituksena ei ole
peitota muuta ympäröivää elämää laululla, vaan säilyttää vieraanvaraisuutta
sitä kohtaan.”
HEIDI FAST (born in 1975) is a live artist, researcher and pedagogue from
Helsinki, Finland. Her work operates between vocal performance art, philosophy,
therapeutic thinking and action, and new organizational questions. She doesn´t
make a clear distinction between her artwork and research practice. Her
artworks, mainly done for public places (It´s Voicy 2007, Amorous Dialogues
2006, A Night Song Action 2006, Night Song Walk), are experiments of composing
both intimacy and distance with the voice, and creating new kinds of
communities.
In Night Song Walk made for IHME Days 2010 Fast invited people to join her on a
night song walk, during sunset, through a moment of twilight, from the
Kauppatori Market Square to the Old Student House, along the side streets of
the city center. “As I walk, I will sing small, silent sounds in resonance with
the sounds of a city turning towards dusk, letting myself be affected from what
I hear and who I walk with. When the day grows dim, it is easier to open up to
listening, and to meet also with that what is not imposed upon us. If you want,
you can take part in the singing with your own voice, be it rugged or clear,
loud or silent, just the voice that comes natural to you. It´s not however
necessary. The idea is not to cover the surrounding life by singing but to
remain in a state of hospitability towards it.”
