Järjestetään Soppa
Töölön Oksasenkatu 11 -galleriassa pidetään tarjoilu. Näyttely kulttuuriravintola Eliten
naapurissa ei jäljittele maailmaa, vaan tarjoaa kävijälle ilmaista soppaa. Teos on yhtä
aikaa konkreettinen ja abstrakti. Kaikille aisteille käyvä näyttely hahmottelee utopiaa:
Robin Hoodin teeseremonia, harras soppatykki-happening, apinoiden alttari tuhlaukselle,
Lisäksi ainakin kolmena iltana on luvassa
erikoisohjelmaa:
la 26.2. klo 18 – Videokerho
ke 2.3. klo 18 – Elävää musiikkia: Kari Peitsamo,Jyrki Nissinen
la 5.3. klo 18 – Elävää musiikkia, special guest

An exhibition
24.2 – 5.3.2011
Welcome to the opening Wednesday February 23th 18-20
Oksasenkatu11
open we-su 12-18
Oksasenkatu 11, 00100 Helsinki

The exhibition next door to the “culture and artist restaurant” Elite in Töölö is not a
replica of the world, merely it offers soup to the visitors. The work in Oksasenkatu 11
gallery is grounded in the concrete simpleness of itself, where from it reaches an
abstract dimension. It is an event evoking all senses to contemplate on a utopia, or –
how to put it – to be doing nothing, like tea party with Robin Hood, an unprofitable
business, a monkey altar for wastefulness – and food as it is served, simply an sich.
Soup will be cooked during two weeks by Meri Linna and Tuomo Tuovinen together with a
group of invited artists. Also at least three special evenings will be arranged:
Saturday 26.2. from 6 p.m Videoclub
Wednesday 2.3. from 6 p.m live music: Kari Peitsamo,Jyrki Nissinen
Saturday 5.3. from 8 p.m live music (see artist confirmation later on)

Oksasenkatu 11
Oksasenkatu11 is an artist-run gallery and an artist collective located in the district
of Töölö in central Helsinki. The collective consists of nine artists with diverse
practices but with a shared interest in working outside of the established and
institutionalized art world. Today there is a growing need of gaining a certain
sovereignty back to the artists themselves, and Oksasenkatu11 is our humble attempt in
this direction. We try to maintain a critical distance and independency, and to focus in
collaboration. The object is to create a space for conversation and offer artists an
opportunity to react on what s happening in their surroundings and get their thoughts
and works visible more easily in the current conditions.
The exhibitions in the gallery are curated by one member of the collective at a time,
and once a year we make a show together as an collective. Beside exhibitions the gallery
hosts various events including e.g workshops and screenings. The collective has made
group shows, organized happenings and installation-works together.
